Zoom is an easy-to-use video conferencing platform that provides high-definition, interactive collaboration tools and telephone conferencing to use for communication and collaboration. In some cases, you may want to save a recording of the meeting to share with others or review later. This resource explains how to record a Zoom meeting and where they are stored.

Recording Zoom Meetings

In Session Recordings

If you decide you’d like to record a meeting after it has already begun, you can select “Record” at the bottom of your Zoom meeting window and choose a storage location for your recording. You’ll know recording has begun when a red light appears in the upper left corner of your Zoom window with the words “recording in progress.” You will be able to access your recording at your chosen storage location. See Zoom Recording Management.

Triggering Auto-Cloud Recording in Canvas

Scheduled meetings in the Canvas Zoom tool can be set to automatically record once the meeting has been started by the host. Only meetings scheduled through the Canvas Zoom tool will have their Cloud recordings appear in Zoom and be publishable. See how to set meetings to automatically record to the Cloud.

Sharing Recordings

Publishing Auto-Cloud Recordings in Canvas

Cloud recordings from scheduled Zoom meetings in the Canvas Zoom tool will be processed after a meeting has ended and can be published for students to view easily. See how to publish cloud recordings in Canvas.

Sharing Other Cloud Recordings in Canvas

If you recorded a Zoom meeting in session or at another time and did not schedule it through the Canvas tool, Cloud Recordings can still be shared on a page in Canvas if desired. See how to share cloud recordings in Canvas.
